Mission

OCIO’s mission is to manage and direct the Information Technology operations, activities, and employees within all OCFO offices and departments.   The OCIO is committed to delivering innovative, cost effective, and secure IT solutions and infrastructure that support OCFO’s programs and initiatives, preserve the independent status of the District’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, provide excellent customer service, enable the continuous improvement of services, and enable transparency in government.

Function

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is the technology organization for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) of the District of Columbia.  OCIO acquires, develops, enhances and maintains financial systems and tools that help to enforce the financial policies and laws that govern the District and enable timely and accurate reporting of the District's financial status.  The OCIO is committed to delivering innovative, cost-effective and secure technology solutions and infrastructure that support the OCFO’s programs and initiatives.

Key Activities

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is responsible for delivering world class technology services to the OCFO workforce and citizens of the District by developing and supporting financial systems (i.e., budget, payroll, business intelligence, core financials, integrated tax solutions, enterprise information systems, etc.) that provide accurate and timely information.

The OCIO is a model information and technology center recognized for strategic thinking, proactive leadership, collaborative partnerships, and innovative solutions that enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia.

Key activities include modernization of OCFO's financial systems and infrastructure, implementation of comprehensive IT governance and management practices, delivery and support of customer-focused IT solutions, and providing an employment environment that is conducive to collaboration and the pursuit of excellence.
