Statement on February 2021 Revenue Estimates

Friday, February 26, 2021

(Washington, DC) – Today, the DC Government released the revised revenue estimates for the FY 2022-2025 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The revised estimate increases the current FY 2021-FY 2024 financial plan revenue by $227 million. This, combined with prior revisions, leaves a financial plan deficit of $235 million to be addressed. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Bowser released the following statement:

“As was the case in December, it is still difficult to celebrate that our fiscal loss is less bad than we had feared. These estimates, which assume that federal relief is on the way, highlight the urgency with which we need Congress to pass the American Rescue Plan. While our economy has proven to be resilient, on the individual level, many residents and businesses are struggling. We know that the best way the federal government can help is to quickly pass the stimulus and get more vaccine out so that everyone who wants a shot can get one. With more relief and more vaccine, we can provide Americans the hope they need right now and we can get our economy back on track for a strong recovery.”
