Electronic Benefit Transfer Systems Are Up and Running for the District

Monday, January 3, 2000

Washington, DC - The Office of the Chief Financial Officer announced today that all of its Electronic Benefit Transfer systems (EBT) for District citizens are in order. On Thursday, December 30, 1999, the Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF) benefits was delivered on time. Food stamps were delivered on Saturday, January 1, 2000, which is its regular issuance schedule, and citizens were successfully able to access these benefits from the ATM machines.

As of this morning, the Electronic Benefit Transfer systems have been tested and are up and running. The Office of the Chief Financial Officer does not expect any problems, but if citizens have questions or should experience problems receiving their benefits, please contact Mr. Edward Williams, EBT Project Manager, at (202) 727-6055.
