(Washington, DC) Chief Financial Officer Natwar M. Gandhi announced today that Ronald Gaskins will become interim chief financial officer for DC Public Schools (DCPS) at the end of April, when current DCPS CFO Robert Morales is scheduled to depart.
Gaskins has served with distinction in senior positions in the District government for more than 20 years. Most recently, Gaskins was director of accounting, control and reporting at DCPS. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer for the Department of Corrections, the Metropolitan Police Department, and the Department of Employment Services. Gaskins has also worked for the DC Controller as group controller, the Inspector General (IG) as acting assistant IG for audits, at the Department of Housing and Community Development as acting comptroller, and for the DC Auditor as a senior financial auditor.
Gaskins earned a bachelors degree in business administration from Boston University and a masters of business administration from New York University.
The DCPS superintendents office, in conjunction with the Districts Office of the Chief Financial Officer, will conduct a nationwide search to find a permanent replacement for Morales.
