Dr. Ian Greaves joined the DC Office of the Chief Financial Officer as the agency fiscal officer for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) in August 2024. As the agency fiscal officer, Greaves is responsible for the overall financial management of the DCPS operating budget, which totals $1.4 billion. He is a member of the Education Cluster leadership team and guides budgeting and accounting operations, which includes internal/external audit compliance functions.

Prior to joining the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Greaves served as comptroller at the city of Alexandria, Virginia, and assistant comptroller at the Washington-Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. He also served in various senior-level positions in the finance and technology consulting industries.

Greaves holds a doctorate in information systems and a master’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Los Angeles. He is also a certified public manager.
