Kimberly Washington joined the DC Office of the Chief Financial Officer as the Education Cluster budget director in August 2022. Washington is responsible for the overall budget coordination of all education agencies in District government. This includes DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools, University of the District of Columbia, Office of the State Superintendent of Education and several other education-related agencies with budgets totaling $3.9 billion. She notes the benefits of relationships she has established across District offices and agencies during her tenure as a cornerstone to her success.
Prior to joining the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Washington served as the deputy director of finance for Howard County Government. During this time, she became a member of the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and was later appointed to the National GFOA Capital Planning Committee.
