Frehiwot Deresso is the agency fiscal officer for Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department at the Public Safety and Justice Cluster. She oversees the agency’s operating and capital budgets. Deresso has more than 18 years of  experience in financial management, planning, budgeting and executing the full sets of accounting functions.

Deresso began her public finance career in the District as a resource allocations analyst for the then-Office of Property Management, delivering cost-saving and revenue-generating solutions on behalf of District taxpayers. She served the Office of Chief Financial Officer for more than 12 years as a financial manager and agency fiscal officer in the Government Operations Cluster.

Prior to joining the District government, Deresso worked at the United Nations (UNICEF & UNECA) as a grant administrator, as well as in other capacities. She is a member of Association of Government Accountants and is a graduate from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
