Shavonne Y. Smith

Shavonne Y. Smith serves as the agency fiscal officer for the Metropolitan Police Department and Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. She is a dedicated financial professional with more than 20 years of experience at the federal, state, and local levels of government and the private sector. Smith has consistently exercised fiduciary responsibility to execute fiscal stewardship, sound judgment, professional skepticism, and unbiased analyses to senior leaders, mentoring multiple young professionals along the way.

Prior to joining the Government of the District of Columbia, Smith served as a leader within the Defense Intelligence Agency for almost 12 years. During her tenure, she oversaw budgets of more than $500 million per fiscal year, developed fiscal strategies addressing agency priorities, goals and requirements to overseers, employees, partners, and the American public, and securing approximately $1.3 billion in funding across a five-year budgeting cycle for critical intelligence requirements against Violent Extremist Organizations.

She believes in serving her community and helping others. She championed DIA’s Partnership in Education outreach program with the local community through tutoring, supply drives, family Christmas gift donations, and food drives.

She has a master's degree in business administration from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, and a bachelor's in accounting from South Carolina State University.
