Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the Office of Budget and Planning

Eric Cannady is the Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the Office of Budget and Planning. He previously served as the director of budget administration.

Cannady’s first tour with the District government was from 1993-1996. He worked for the Department of Health’s Office of Maternal and Child Health. After spending 10 years in the private sector, he returned to the District government as a senior budget analyst for OBP.

Within two months of working for OBP, Cannady was promoted to the position of deputy director for the Budget Administration Division. Three years following his promotion as deputy director, Cannady was again promoted to the position of director for budget administration, which was subsequently renamed the Operating Budget Division.

Cannady has earned a master's in education from Howard University, a master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix, and a bachelor's from Towson State University. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers' Association and board member of the local chapter, and a member of the National Association of State Budget Officers.
