Senior Manager for Operations and Administration
Vanessa Jackson is the senior manager for Operations and Administration for the Office of Financial Operations and Systems (OFOS). In this capacity, she prepares periodic and special reports pertaining to personnel and administrative matters. In addition, she coordinates with agency personnel to ensure that the independent auditors’ requests are timely addressed, which, as a result, helps to facilitate the timely completion and issuance of the District’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). She also develops internal procedures and guidelines; supervises OFOS’s administrative staff, and ensures that operational, financial, and procurement regulations are strictly enforced within OFOS.
She has worked in the public sector for more than 30 years. She served as the executive office manager for the Office of the DC Controller from 1988 through 1996. In this role, she provided administrative and technical assistance, which included coordinating verbal and written communication between the controller and senior staff.
Jackson also served as the lead legal technician for the District government’s Office of the Corporation Counsel from 1985 through 1988 and prepared legal and technical correspondence. She also served as a court reporter (stenographer) for the U.S. Department of Justice – Drug Enforcement Administration/Dangerous Drugs Division, where she also maintained the database on undercover operations and prepared paperwork pertaining to undercover operations. She also served as the lead personnel assistant from 1980 until 1984 at the General Accounting Office and the Interstate Commerce Commission.
Jackson holds a paralegal certificate from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a certificate in Civil and Criminal Procedures from the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and a Court & Conference Reporting Certificate from Strayer College. She is an active member of the National Notary Association, the Government Finance Officers Association, and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators.
