Gurmeet Scoggins was assigned as the ageny fiscal officer to the Public Service Commission and the Office of the People’s Counsel in 2011. She oversees the annual budgets and manages the agency financial operations of both agencies. Prior to her current assignment, Scoggins served as the budget director and then interim agency fiscal officer for the Department of Employment Services, Unemployment Compensation Fund, and the Disability Compensation Fund, where she handled all financial operations. She also served as the senior budget analyst for the Department of Housing Community Development and the Housing Production Trust Fund before managing the Office of Planning, Office of Zoning, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Board of Real Property Assessments and Appeals.
Scoggins transferred to government accounting and budgeting after leaving the banking industry where she handled new accounts and developed several banking training and incentive programs. And, during the early years of her career, she served several educational institutions through teaching college-level classes in English literature.
She holds a masters’ degree in English Literature and a bachelor’s degree in economics.
