George B. Dines Jr.

Associate CFO, Government Services Cluster

George B. Dines is a 13-year veteran of Government Services who began his career in the District government in 1999 serving as Comptroller for the District of Columbia Department of Housing and Community Development. Subsequently, George was appointed Associate Chief Financial Officer for the Government Services Cluster in September 2006. 

Along with his duties as Associate Chief Financial Officer for the Government Services Cluster, Mr. Dines took on the position of CFO for the District of Columbia Public Schools in January 2010 where he provided executive financial direction for a budget in excess of $800 million. 

As the Associate CFO for the Government Services Cluster, he provides overall management for the development and execution of the six previously mentioned Government Services Cluster agencies with budgets totaling over $600 million of operational and $250 million of capital funding. 

Prior to joining the District government, George worked for several non-profit institutions including serving as Comptroller for the Parish of St. Matthews in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and Controller for the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.

George also teaches classes in entrepreneurial accounting and finance as well as serving as a mentor and reviewer on multiple venture capital pitches and financial reviews.

George attended the University of Maryland where he earned his BA in Psychology. George is also a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, where he earned an MA in Psychology, and earned an MBA in Finance from Southeastern University.   George also holds the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

George is a Board of Trustees member for several non-profit organizations and serves as a member of 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC.  Mr. Dines also holds memberships in the Washington University Alumni Association and the University of Maryland, College Park Alumni Association.
