Belete Sitota has more than 20 years of experiences in providing training and expert-level execution of financial management, financial accounting and reporting, grant management, financial statement audit and advisory services in both the public and private sector.
Prior to joining GOC in 2013, Belete served in the Office of Financial Operations and Services for four years. He provided guidance on the interim and year-end closing processes to District-wide agencies; handled complex and unusual financial accounting and reporting issues. Belete also conducted quality assurance analysis to ensure the timely, accurate and complete production of internal and external financial reports, including the District Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
Having earned his MBA and MS degrees in Accounting and Finance, Belete is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Belete is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Government Financial Officers Associations, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
