Bright A. Ahaiwe is the agency fiscal officer (AFO) for the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB), DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the Department of For-Hire Vehicles. Prior to his current position, Ahaiwe served in a dual role for 10 years as the cluster controller and AFO for DISB. In his capacity as the controller, he provided accounting and financial services to the agencies under the Economic Development Regulation Cluster.
He earned a Master of Business Administration from Howard University, Washington, DC, and a bachelor's in finance from the University of Tennessee. Ahaiwe is also a certified public accountant and holds the following certifications -- certified government financial manager and chartered global management accountant. He is also a member of the America Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Government Finance Officers' Association, and the Association of Government Accountants.
