Strawberries & Salad Greens Day is an optional event for schools to participate int but is strongly encouraged. All DCPS schools are contracutally (food service wise) obligated to serve locally grown strawberries and locally grown salad greens on the lunch menu that day, while PCS can opt in or out. All PCS and DCPS schools also have the option of adding an educational component to the event, where they can set up tables in the cafeteria or simply sit with students while they eat to engage them in conversation around local foods and eating fruits and veggies.
